Frequently Asked Questions

Deer Stalking

What caliber of rifle do I need?
For red deer, it is better to use as big a caliber as possible, especially when stalking stags in the rut. We would recommend 30.06, 308 or 25.06.

Can I fly up to Scotland?
Yes, flying into Inverness is the best option.

Is there a safe for our rifles?
Yes, we have the necessary gun safes to comply with the law.

Can I purchase venison?
Yes, this will be available at the market rate at the time of purchase.

How many deer can I shoot?
This will be arranged on confirmation of your booking.

Can I hunt fallow deer, roe and muntjac?
Yes, our estates in the South of the UK hold good numbers of all species.

When is the best time to book?
Red stags are in very high demand therefore it is best to book one year in advance.

What are the options for accommodation?
All levels of accommodation can be provided depending on your requirements and budget.

Shooting in the UK

Can I bring my own gun?
In the UK, we use side-by-side and over-and-under shotguns to hunt pheasant.

The UK law restricts guns to 3 cartridges or less, so semi-automatic and pump action guns are not allowed.

Can I hire a gun in the UK?
We have a range of good quality guns available to hire, if you do not wish to bring your own gun.

What about permits and licences?
The movement of guns between countries is easy and straightforward. All you need is a Visitor’s Permit, which we can arrange for you.

How many birds are shot per day?
The minimum bag is 150 per day. We can cater for a maximum bag of 1500 per day.

What is an ideal group size?
We organise shooting for groups of 6-10 people.

What about accommodation?
We can organise a range of accommodation from traditional English castles to self catering and B&B. We have many options available to suit your requirements.

Can you organise transfers from the airport?
Yes we can. Either Phil himself of one of our representatives can meet you at the arrivals lounge and transport you to your accommodation, shooting estate and back to the airport for your flight home.

Do you arrange flights?
No. This is left to the hunter however we will advise which flights to catch.

Fishing in the USA

What species are fished for?
You can fish for chinook salmon, steelhead, cutthroat trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and brook trout.

What time of year is best for travel?
Travel time will depend on what species you would like to catch.

Will I be wading or in a boat?
You can do both. If you are in a boat, you will be with a guide. Our guides are excellent and we would recommend this when you travel. There is a maximum of two people per boat.

What locations do you fish in?
We fish in Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Michigan, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Indiana and Wyoming.

What about accommodation?
Accommodation can range from log cabins to motels to fit in with your requirements and budgets.

Do I take my own fishing equipment?
It is recommended that you do. This will be carried in the hold of the aircraft.

What about transfers?
Phil or a company representative will be with you at all times. This will include transfers to and from the airport in the USA and on location.

Testimonials

A testimonial from Chris Kettle.

“Hi Phil,

Just a few words of thanks for the fantastic stalking we have had over the past 18 months.

From our early morning summer jaunts through the wheat fields after roe to our days out following fallow around the woods I can safely safe the stalking and the company has been first class. There have been too many memories to really single one out since we first met but having two does close enough to photograph clearly on a phone has got to be up there with them. Typically we were after Bucks hey..

Looking forward to the winter again when we can hopefully get out in the woods in the search for fallow again and one of those famous Johnson fry-ups.

Good luck,

Chris”
